Developing the Sixth Sense is the Path to Genius

We are all familiar with the five senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch but what of the sixth sense? Does it really exist? Is it a mystery or merely a myth? Does it give one secret powers? Is it spiritual? or scientific? Who may have it? How is it harnessed or developed?

Many researchers and writers on this topic speak of a spiritual awareness, voices, visons, or thoughts from a higher power. If it comes from some other source outside ourselves does it come from God, or Satan? Some writers and movie directors have associated this power with being able to see the dead, ghosts, angels, or demons or to communicate with them. I will venture to say that those concepts are the result of great imaginations because it makes for fantastic stories, movies, and fantasies that human nature chooses to be fascinated with. We embrace the idea of people having special powers. Why do you think the comic book characters with super human powers have been a fascination from generation to generation?

Many consider Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) synonymously with the sixth sense. The ability for some to sense things before they happen, or envision something before it happens otherwise known as intuition is more prevalent in some people than others. I myself have often seen something happen seconds before it actually happened. I give you an example. I was sitting on the bleachers at my sons basketball game as I watched this little girl walking back from the consession stand with her tray of nachos and cheese. Her father was engrossed watching the game and had not noticed this young child climbing up the bleachers towards him while trying to balance her tray. In my mind I saw the girl trip and spill her nachos and cheese. I was just about to reach out and tap the father on the shoulder to avert his attention to his daughter when it happened. I was too late in stopping the spilled nachos and cheese. My children sometimes request that I don't say what is going to happen because too often what I predicted will come to pass exactly as I said it would as if they think because I said it . . . it happened. My children have attributed me as having special physic powers. I will admit that I do have the ability to see pending disasters just prior to them happening, sometimes within seconds and other times months in advance. It has been useful in childrearing to avert some accidents that might have taken place. I have forseen breakups of particular families or a child going wayward before the parents of the child would even admit or consider that there were any visible signs or evidence for anyone else to see. Personally I do not believe it has anything to do with special secret powers at all. I attribute this ability to common sense. Some things are easily predictable as you make observations of people, their manner, personalities or characteristics and the circumstances around them. I for one have been a great observer of people all my life so it almost seems second nature to me to foresee some things.

The Power of the Human Mind

Tis true that the power of the human mind is unfathonable. We can believe in things that are absolute lies and outright falsehoods. Politicians have learned to use that to sway the masses towards their political agendas and party favorites. We can imagine all sorts of things that we think might happen but never actualy do come to pass. Napoleon Hill claims that "The subsconcious mind makes no distinction between constructive and dstructive thought impulses." FEAR is often Fantacies Entertained As Real, or False Events Appearing to be Real so we allow those false ideas or concepts to overtake our mind that prevents us from taking a particular action that we might have done if there were no presence of FEAR. It has been said that FEAR and DOUBT are two of the biggest things that stop us from success and they both happen inside our head.

"Leaders are visionaries with a poorly developed sense of fear and no concept of the odds against them." ~ Robert Jarvik

I submit to you that one cannot become a genius without accessing the sixth sense. It is the path to genius. All the great master artists, musicians, inventors, and scientists learned how to harness the sixth sense. It is how they became the great masters that they were. So exactly what is the sixth sense you say? The sixth sense is creative imagination. One cannot be a great writer, artist, musician or inventor without tapping into the power of their creative imagination. I love the following quote by Albert Einstine which is why I have a poster with this quote in my art classroom.

Portrait of Albert Enstein

Jane Perkins, the artist behind the masterpiece above, ‘re-makes’ famous works of the Old Masters, like Van Gogh and Monet and gives it a contemporary twist. Result a fun and stunning “Plastic Classics”.

"Knowledge is limited, but imagination encircles the world" ~ Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein would not have become the great scientist that he was without the use of his creative imagination, the ability to envision, to see beyond what human knowledge can comprehend. Einstein believed in a "God who reveals himself in a harmony of all that exists." He wanted to know "how God created the world." He said, "What we (physicists) strive for is just to draw His (God's) lines after Him (God). When tapping into the depths of the human mind there are no limits to what one can achieve.  Napoeleon Hill  said, "What the mind can conceive and beieve it can acheive." It takes real imagination to invent, to compose great musical works, or to paint great masterpeices. You have heard the story of Humpty Dumpty how all the kings horses and all the kings men could not put Humpty Dumpty back together again. No, because it takes more than knowledge, more than intellect, more than education, it takes creative imagination. Some would call that thinking outside the box or right brain thinking. To the one who knows how to harness the creative powers within themselves they would say, "There is no box." because to them there are no limits.

How to Tap Into the Sixth Sense

As an artist I am a visonary person by nature. I can envision how a room will look even before I buy the paint, the curtains, the furnishings, and the decorative elements. I can look at a scenery, a picture, or object and envision the steps it would take to paint or draw it which makes it easy for me to develope easy to follow step by step art lessons that others can follow. My head is full of pictures because it is my specialty. I can even develop art lessons in my sleep. There have been many times I went to bed not knowing what my art lesson would be with a particular group the next day but in the morning when I woke up I had my plan already. It came to me while I slept. This is precisily how one can tap into the sixth sense.

You have probably heard people say, "Just listen to that small still voice inside you." Many would say that is our subcontiousness. God says "Be still and know that I am God . . ." Psalms 46:10 It further says, "If any man lack wisdom, let him ask it of God that giveth to all men liberaly and upbraideth not and it shall be given him." James 1:5 I have always believed that every person has the capability to do whatever they can imagine themselves to do. The scriptures also says, "I CAN DO ALL THINGS . . .  through Christ which strengtheneth me." Phillipians 4:13 I sermise that the small still voice, that higher power connection, the subcontious thoughts are inspirations from God himself who can speak to us if we would just stop and listen. The trouble is we are just too busy going to and fro, trying to use our finite minds (intellect or knowledge = left brain thinking) instead of listening to the infinate One who knows all things, who created all things and spoke them into existence. We need to include some quiet times in our day with no TV blaring, no radio blasting, no CD's playing, just silence and learn to be still. Close your eyes, be still, rest and think, allow God to speak to you. Thinking is a comodity that modern society is in great lack thereof. When you are sitting in front of a video game or a movie the things that are happening in those devises are controlling your thoughts so that you do not have full reign of your own thoughts.

"The greastest undeveloped territory is under your hat" ~ unknown

Have you not noticed that while you are sitting on the toilet or taking a shower, or perhaps driving in the car with the CD player and radio off that you have clearer thinking? That is because for the moment you are not being bombarded with outside influences that send your thoughts where the writers and conceptual creators of the voices from videos, games, radio programs, and movies would take you. Einstein required some solitude to do his work. Silence is golden if you learn to make time for it and look deep into the crevices of your own mind to find your greatness.

"There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge." ~ Napoleon Hill
